Andropause Left Untreated

When there is less testosterone available to do its work, many changes are brought about by the body.

Because testosterone levels vary greatly among men, not all men will experience the same changes to the same extent, but some typical responses to low testosterone levels in men include:

  • Loss of sex drive
  • Fatigue, tiredness
  • Erection problems
  • Grumpiness, irritability
  • Depressed Mood
  • Body fat gain, particularly abdominal weight gain
  • Decreased muscle mass
  • Weak bones and back pain
  • Lapses in concentration
  • Memory loss
  • Nervousness, anxiety
  • Reduced motivation/apathy

There may also be a variety of psychological and emotional changes, including a loss of drive at play and at work; many men have reported losing their ‘edge’.  Men may also question their values, accomplishments, goals and directions in life.  Men may become increasingly negative, and they may lose focus and concentration.

The physical changes can also include loss of strength; loss of energy (tired all the time, falling asleep in front of the TV); stiffness and aching of muscles and joints.

There is now an abundance of medical research indicating a direct connection between the symptoms we have described above and testosterone deficiency.  The signs and symptoms of andropause need not be accepted as inevitable parts of the aging process.
