Why curing impotence isn’t as simple as popping a pill
I suppose you’re familiar with those little blue pills that are supposed to give you hard erections until morning. These drugs are some of the most popular medications to emerge on the market in the past decade or so, for the fact that they have all been advertised to deal with erection failure. If you have trouble getting it up, just take one of these, and you’ll be all set to go for at least a few hours. Men both young and old have looked to these pills to give them the extra boost that they need, whenever the opportunity to have sex arises. There are plenty of other male enhancement drugs out there for sale, as well, claiming the use of ancient herbal techniques or cutting edge science, or both, to do away with erection problems for good. What many men ignore in their rush to get blood rushing in their nether regions, however, is the fact that these drugs carry side effects that can be quite uncomfortable, if not downright dangerous. Even the big name pills, which have the approval of government organizations, are not meant to be used by everybody. One major problem is a form of blindness, otherwise known as nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, or NAION, which is caused by loss of blood flow to the nerves in the eye. Anti-impotence drugs alter the blood flow of your body, so they can cause NAION in people who have certain health concerns. If you are older than 50 years of age, have a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes or eye-related ailments, or are a smoker, you are placed at greater risk for NAION vision loss. NAION blindness could be partial or total, and in certain cases, it becomes permanent. Another problem that these drugs can cause is sudden drops in blood pressure, which can be sharp enough to put one in danger. The risk is higher if the person is taking nitrates, which are often in medication for chest pains. There have also been reported cases of loss of hearing from impotence drug intake. In remote cases, the erection caused by these pills lasts much longer than a person would want, many hours after the sex has taken place. This is where having too much of a good thing is definitely not recommended. And these are just the so-called “approved” drugs. Other male enhancement drugs, which one can easily purchase online from any number of dubious websites with outlandish claims, may be even worse. You don’t know what’s in them, how they will react to your body, and the awful things that could happen without proper supervision. Sustained regular erections are indeed important for a man, but not so much that you would risk the rest of you to get them. It would be good to consult an IMH doctor, one who has dedicated himself to the preservation and restoration of men’s health, before hopping down to the corner pharmacy for a quick-fix solution. |
